The National Information Society Agency (NIA, Director Seo Byung-jo) announced on the 10th that it held a "NIA-MS Meeting to find ways to support artificial intelligence startups" in collaboration with Microsoft (MS, Jean-Philippe Courtois and Global President) at Park Hyatt Hotel Seoul.
Along with Microsoft, at the meeting attended by promising start-ups in the field of artificial intelligence, such as MediPixel, Twigfarm, Beauty, Linkon, and IPL, the Korea Information Society Agency introduced artificial intelligence-related business and corporate support policies and shared the business models of promising startups.
Participants suggested various ideas, such as linking large companies and venture capital and research collaboration with government R&D institutions, to promote artificial intelligence technology development in various fields based on their experience in artificial intelligence technology research and application services.
Through this meeting, the Ministry of Science and ICT sought to enhance the business performance of the 'Intellectual Information Industry Infrastructure Creation Project', which is one of the AI-related R&D projects that the Ministry of Science and ICT is focusing on to respond to the 4th industrial revolution and lay the foundation for future growth engines.
“In order to develop new artificial intelligence services in various industries, it is important to build an intelligent information-based data construction and utilization environment that supports new attempts based on the ideas and creativity of venture companies,” said Seo Byung-jo, president of the National Information Society Agency.
Ko Soon-dong, president of Microsoft Korea, said, "We will actively cooperate as a partner to contribute to fostering Korean startups with the Korea Information Society Agency."
Meanwhile, the Korea Information Society Agency plans to expand projects to create infrastructure for the intelligent information industry, such as building and opening data for artificial intelligence learning, disclosing artificial intelligence software, and providing cloud-based computing power.
