Global Accelerator Conference & Demo Day held at 2018 WIS
Announcement of various new technologies such as smart keys, customized translation, and natural language processing through chatbots.
From May 23 to 24, the "2018 Global Accelerator-Korea Startup Conference & Demo Day" was held at COEX in Seoul.
The event has become a place to find promising domestic startups, connect global accelerators (ACs) and investors (VCs) to support overseas expansion, and to establish startups and create jobs through networking between domestic and foreign accelerators and investors.
Blue Point Partners, an accelerator that supports and invests in startups that challenge the domestic high-tech industry market, made an announcement at the Global Accelerator China, Hong Kong, and Asian Conference & Demo Day held on the afternoon of May 24.
“Most startups go through a difficult process called Death Valley in the process of preparing to launch a startup,” said Yoon Jin, head of Bluepoint Partners’ communication team. “The important thing for startups that fall into this process is that the technical experts necessary for business operation help, and Blue Point Partners is the best partner for them,” he emphasized.
At the domestic promising startup product and service demonstration pitching event, six companies, including XINAPSE, Twigfarm, Ask Story, Myongji Korea, ONKEY, and NuEyne, introduced their technologies.
First, XINAPSE is a company that has developed a hybrid inference engine that understands the language used in mobile chat windows, from literal expressions to expressions with a purpose, due to the spread of messenger programs such as KakaoTalk. Kim Jae-hyeong, director of XINAPSE's Strategic Planning Team, said, "Based on the chatbot developed in-house, it improves natural language processing performance and can be applied in various fields including financial institutions."
Twigfarm, which introduced a program called Gcon Studio, is a company that provides customized translation services. Baek Sun-ho, CEO of Twigfarm, introduced the company, saying, "Gcon Studio makes what is written on a piece of paper into the insights we need through big data processing with engineers, searchers, and translators. It automatically creates translation dictionaries."
Jin Kyung-hoon, manager of AskStory, said he aims to apply an AI engine called ‘ASK’ to the IoT industry. Jin said, "ASK's functions are used in various fields, such as machine learning, natural language processing, text mining, and recommendations. "In particular, WhyMe, an automated mobile HR platform, brings out an optimized match between the hiring company and job seekers, and the success rate approaches 80%," Jin said.
Myongji Korea, which introduced AI photo kiosks, introduced a photo booth called "Snap Action," which integrates all functions related to photos into one. Yoo Myung-jin, CEO of Myongji Korea, introduced the product with a video, saying, "I take a lot of commemorative photos with my family and friends at amusement parks and events, and the procedures involved in taking pictures have always been complicated." Yoo introduced their product with a video, saying "Snap Action can select and print photos taken while integrating cameras, printers, and various photo backgrounds and giving AR effects."
TMC Tech's manager, Charlie, introduced a virtual car key system called “ONKEY.” He introduced it as a “safe, convenient and economical system” that eliminates the need for a car key by installing an application on your smartphone, which also enables tracking of your car and the rental of other cars.
Pyung-gyu Kim, director of Nu Eyne, gave examples of applying cutting-edge technology to the development of neuromodulation or electronic drugs for eye treatment. Kim said, “Nu Eyne is the first company to apply innovative eye-related technology to the cornea of the eye. It induces nerve regeneration and appropriately modulates impaired nerves.” Kim added, “"We launched a prototype last month and are researching it with corneal experts, and we plan to expand the treatment to corneal diseases and retinal diseases.”
The 2018 Global Accelerators Coffee & Demo Day, held as a simultaneous event of the 2018 World IT Show, featured 15 promising startups IR pitching, 30 promising startup products and services exhibitions, conferences and business consulting, and networking events between startups and domestic and foreign ACs and VCs.
