The artificial intelligence (AI)-based intellectual property industry is expected to open up with government support.
On the 20th, the National Intellectual Property Committee held a meeting to launch the "Artificial Intelligence Intellectual Property Specialized Companies Council" and to model and support field-oriented intellectual property businesses. Through this, plans were signaled to prepare policies that will create synergy with the Korean version of the New Deal and a plan to foster AI/data-oriented intellectual property companies.
Existing intellectual property services relied heavily on manual work such as simple keyword search and internal expert know-how. Starting with this meeting, AI and data technology will be applied to the entire intellectual property service industry.
To this end, a public-private joint project model and policy plan will be prepared. At the first meeting, the progress of the digital new deal project and patent big data analysis project and future plans were shared, and free discussions were held centered on the business model proposed by the company. The creation of jobs for youth was also discussed in response to the cold wave of employment that is coming to the economic and social structure that is rapidly changing due to the 4th industrial revolution and COVID-19.
The Artificial Intelligence Intellectual Property Enterprise Consultative Body is composed of intellectual property service companies, associations, and public institutions.
Thirteen companies, including Markpro, Meca IPS, Vision Inside, Anyfive, Wert Intelligence, Wisdomain, Wips, Combiro, IPI, Brunel, Gwanggaeto Research Institute, Twigfarm, and Micro Info Tech participated in the council. The Korean Patent Attorneys Association and the Korea Intellectual Property Service Association were listed as associations, and the Korea Patent Strategy Development Institute and Korea Patent Information Service were named as public institutions.
"Intellectual property service companies are mostly small-scale enterprises," said Sang-jo Sang-jo, private chairman of the National Intellectual Property Committee. "Government support is important," he said. "We will strive to create jobs by fostering the AI and data-oriented intellectual property service industry," he further said.
